A Tucson Tea Party "Thank you" and lessons learned

A  wrap-up note about the February 22nd Tucson Tea Party event. Many "Thank
You's " and a note about lessons learned........

The Tucson Tea Party would like to sincerely thank it's exceptional
volunteers, security staff, Trent and Jennifer Humphries, the Sabbar Shrine,
our wonderful donors, and it's members and event attendees, for allowing us to
let various candidates for Congress, along with Rick Santorum, speak to you
this past Wednesday. All of these candidates appear to be fired up for their
respective races. Safety at our events is of primary importance. Safety, not
from our own conservative members, but from those that might choose to use our
events to harm the conservative movement. We are proud of our association with
the fine members of the "WarriorSchool" who provided security for this
important event.

We were particularly encouraged at the passion and commitment expressed by the
Congressional candidates in attendance. Of pressing importance to the Tucson
Tea Party is the upcoming "off-cycle" Congressional District 8 Special
Election. The outcome of this race will be viewed by the entire nation,
separate and distinct from other congressional races. The measure of success or
failure on the part of our conservative community here, in your backyard, will
ricochet across the country and measurably influence the fall general
election.Your vote for President- 1 in 90,000,000. Your vote in Congressional
District 8-1 in 303,000 with a margin of difference of a few thousand votes. A
solid defeat of any candidate in this race loyal to the
Obama/Reid/Pelosi/Grijalva/Rodgers "Tax and Spend" agenda will signal to the
nation, that the tide has turned. Tucson Tea Party members can and will impact
the results of this race.

We appreciate the appearance by Rick Santorum. He gave us a fiery speech. Tucson
Tea Party members are independent minded, intelligent voters, who cover a wide
swath of the "right of center" political spectrum. Those that paint our members
as "right wing" extremists do not know our group. We are confidant that you
will weigh Mr. Santorum's political history and experience with the experience
and views of the other candidates for President. One speech does not a
candidate make. It's incumbent upon each and every one of us to carefully weigh
each of the candidates for President and make a choice that reflects our
conservative values. No candidate is perfect. Each has their strengths and
limitations. All are a better alternative to our current President. We believe
that all of the candidates for President would have welcomed speaking to our
group, had their schedules permitted. Nonetheless, we appreciate that Rick
Santorum asked for a chance to speak to you.

We apologize for not having room to accommodate all that wished to attend.
Inside meeting space is not cheap. Our limited budget precluded a larger space.

The lesson learned? Ask our members for a little help in advance as it relates
to space rental, and deposits. They always come through for us. A larger venue may have been possible, had we done this.

Again, we are thankful that you allow us to serve you. Stay tuned for some
exciting upcoming announcements.

Tucson Tea Party members get slapped!

Rhonda Bodfield, a reporter with the Arizona Daily star, reported Sunday comments that Pima County Democrat party boss Jeff Rodgers made about Tucson Tea Party Members, painting us as "some of the most extreme right-wing elements of the Republican Party". I'm posting here, my reply to Ms. Bodfield, in defense of our group. I hope that you, the Tucson Tea Party members, approve.

(as written)While it concerns me, it does not surprise me, that the chairman of the Pima County Democratic Party, Jeff Rodgers, would use the announcement of a change in the leadership of the Tucson Tea Party as an opportunity to roundly insult our Tucson Tea Party members. I know these people to be responsible members of our local community. Many are parents, grandparents, and church members. All have a vested interest in the success of our community. They love this city, this state, and this country. However, I do understand that Jeff is simply doing his job as a mouthpiece for Harry Reid. Jeff Rodger’s “Chicago style” attack on our Tucson Tea Party members only serves to deflect attention from his support for the shameless attack launched on our religious institutions by Jeff’s party boss, President Barack Obama. I would implore any member of the Democratic Party who feel abandoned by Jeff Rodgers and his Socialist/Progressive cohorts, and who feel strongly that government spending is out of control, to join with other like minded individuals, as a member of the Tucson Tea Party.
These words of our greatest President speak to the importance of our struggle against the tyranny of our current administrations excessive spending, excessive regulation, and intrusion into the lives of ordinary Americans.
“It is the eternal struggle between these two principles — right and wrong — throughout the world. They are the two principles that have stood face to face from the beginning of time; and will ever continue to struggle. The one is the common right of humanity, and the other the divine right of kings. It is the same principle in whatever shape it develops itself. It is the same spirit that says, “You toil and work and earn bread, and I’ll eat it.” No matter in what shape it comes, whether from the mouth of a king who seeks to bestride the people of his own nation and live by the fruit of their labor, or from one race of men as an apology for enslaving another race, it is the same tyrannical principle.”
–Abraham Lincoln, Oct. 15, 1858.

Note: I'm in the process of contacting those of you who have volunteered to assist the TTP. If you have not yet heard from me, you will. After paying some renewal bills for things such as the website, P.O Box, Contact vendor, etc.,. The TTP would welcome your donations to the group, if you have a few extra bucks to share, so that we can get our spring events off the ground. You can secure donate at our website. www.tucsonteaparty.org

Thanks again, as always, for your kind support,
