Many Tucson Tea Party supporters have called (520-881-3588) Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ (D-AZ) office in order to find out if she will be holding any town hall meetings during the Congressional recess. To no avail. In fact, Giffords will not be holding any town halls in Tucson by which her constituents may publicly question her positions on government-run health care or Cap’n'Tax. So how are you supposed to let her know what you think about the government trying to take over health care, which represents 1/6 of the entire economy?

We believe this is because — all across the country — town hall meetings have been packed with concerned citizens and Tea Partiers who believe that this country is running full speed down the wrong path. Congress faces unprecedented levels of unpopularity, and it is beginning to manifest in these town halls. They have never seen or dealt with such massive public resistance before and are running scared.

Gabrielle Giffords will be making ONE public appearance in Tucson during the entire Congressional recess, and we believe that her constituents deserve a fair Q&A session on important issues that she will be voting on. It’s time that her constituents show up where she is and have a casual conversation about the issues facing our country.

She will be in Tucson on Thursday, August 6th at 6 p.m. for a “Movie Night with Gabby” she is hosting at the downtown La Placita. We have been told that she will actually be there. Here are the full details:

WHAT: “Casual Conversation” with Gabrielle Giffords
WHEN: Thursday, August 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
WHERE: La Placita, 211 S Church Ave. It’s a very colorful shopping center.

We are being given no venue to let our elected representative know what we think about her actions in Washington, so the venue must be brought to her!

This Casual Conversation is also being broadcast on the Jon Justice show, as well as by other organizations. If you want your chance to let Gabby know how you feel, please plan on being there.

And don’t forget to wear your Tea Shirt!

ADDITIONAL INFO: A more precise address is 110 South Church Avenue, intersection of Church and Broadway. Parking is available across the street (West of La Placita) off of the street “Jackson” in the 5 story parking garage. Parking is free after 5pm on levels 3 and above!!

    HiEveryone . .

I spoke with Trent this morning regarding Gariella Giffords lack of Tucson appearances during this August recess.

I stopped into her office yesterday to inquire on town hall meetings to be held on health care. I was told by her staff that she was “Too Busy” to hold further town hall meetings this summer.

I believe she should make it a priority to hold meetings on one of the most important issues of our time.

Enough already . . . Obama carefully deliberates for 6 months before getting a dog . . . He and Congress want to do Healthcare, just like Cap and Trade, Stimulus, Bail-outs, . . . . all real fast…shove it down our throats in a matter of days.

Meanwhile slipping in the National ID card, money to Acorn and other spending items not related to healthcare.

Thats why he does not want us to see the legislation.

I stopped in and voiced my displeasure on her lack of summer town hall meetings.

Please, everybody write, email and call demanding she schedule additional Town Halls and face us her constituents, with the issues.

  3. David says:

She is “Too Busy” traveling HOME to Huston TX. She has no time to speak with her constituents because she DOESN’T EVEN LIVE HERE!

She has no interest in hearing your opinions, because she has already made up her mind. You see, she is smarter than you and she knows better what is best for you and your family. You are against these bills, because you are “brainwashed” by the RNC. She doesn’t need to change her stance, you need to be reeducated, because you are stupid and are not capable of understanding these bills.

  4. Vivian says:

I wonder if she’ll be TOO BUSY to camplaign when she is up for reelection.

  5. Robert says:

How about another protest outside of her office?
    Make it large and loud.

  6. TucsonWilly says:

I just called Gifford’s offices and recieved this:

She has no public events scheduled. I asked about tonight and they said that was an not an event that they knew about. (of course after asking specifiaclly about it they confessed they had heard about it from other callers!)

I was told they had a town hall type meeting last night - in Douglas. They had called people immediate to the area and invited them. She can now claim she had a meeting in her district. I was told that she held one last May in Tucson for whatever that is worth and she “tries” to have at least one public appearnace a month. Nothing on her web pages that I could find about any meetings, but was told that they had already removed the info about last night’s “meeting” from the web page. Of course the stuff from 2 years ago remains. What an open minded public official.

I asked if she would have any public appearnaces in Tucson in the next month or so and would she be in Tucson during her recess. The repsonse I recieved was that she was on recess and they do not know where she will be at any time. I guess I will check out Houston to see if she is going to have a town hall there.

They want dialog but I guess it is up to us and not the poor over worked Congress to figure out a way to speak with them.

  7. David says:

    Robert,

That is already planned for August 21/22. The official national protest is scheduled for Sat. the 22nd. We here in Tucson may forgo the 22 date for the more effective Friday rush hour on the 21st.

Remember how well that worked last time? Tons of traffic on a Friday afternoon also, what’s the point of protesting outside an empty office building on a weekend.

  8. Darlene Hepp says:

Thank you very much for getting this information to us. When you have a date and time set for the next Gabby office rally, please give information on availabale parking spaces. I look forward to being a part of the mob again. Please be aware that the DNC/White House has asked SEIU and ACORN to show up at rally’s and town halls so that the politicians won’t be harassesd. dh

    Semper Fi.

  9. John says:

Maybe we should invite some Pima County democrats at the last minute. That worked well in getting the media out last time.

  10. Mike Cook says:

I spoke with representatives from Gifford’s office this morning. She has “NO PLANS” to hold a public forum (ala town hall meeting) regarding health care reform; although she does plan to have a mini public forum on the “GI BILL” at Pima College in a few weeks. Please call her office and ask for a town hall on health care.

I will be at La Placita tonight to ask her.

Anyone who has taken an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States; active, retired or veteran of police, military, etc.. Check out http://www.oathkeepers.org. I and thousands of others have already joined Oathkeepers and it is growing like the national debt.

  12. David says:

    John,

That is actually a great idea. What if we did actively, politely and sincerely invite them to join us as a sign of good faith.

I know we are angry and ready to fight, but really we don’t want to fight them. It is much more productive and effective to change their minds. They are Americans too, misguided perhaps, but Americans.

We should invite them to all of our events. We already know that they can’t muster enough people for an effective counter protest, so what’s the threat? Maybe we could actually get some of them to change sides.

If we are shouting in their faces, it is unlikely they will start to see things our way.

What was it that Reagan said? “The cure to liberalism is common sense.”

  13. Robert says:

    So David,

This 21 August Tucson event is news to me. Where is it mentioned? I can find no mention of it anywhere. I even Googled it and found nada.

  14. David says:

Like I said the official protest is on the 22nd. We may modify that here locally and do it on the 21st to be more effective.

  15. David says:

Some jerk announced to the crowd at 6:00 that Gabby wasn’t coming and about 50-100 people left. Those that left early missed the speakers and networking with other patriots.

It was also suggested that Gabby was waiting for us to leave before she showed up.

It is SO important that we stick around, even if our reps don’t show up.

  16. David says:

Does anyone know who that guy was? He needs to be held responsible! I’m guessing he is working for Giffords. He made that announcement in hopes that we would disperse and Gabby could then be called in.

  17. Robert says:

Been reading recent information concerning healthcare reform recently provided on Giffords’ website. Based on what I read, expect her to vote Yea on the House Bill no matter what the Bill contains. No way will she ever vote Nay; protests or no protests.

Best to start organizing now to get the Republicans to put someone well qualified up against here next November and vote her out.

  18. John says:

My voting age son and I have both signed the petition to get Jesse Kelly on the ballot. Check out hid views on the issues at votejessekelly.com.

Word has it that Gifford has $300,000 or so left over from last November and no doubt has access to the deep pocket backers that the dems accuse the Tea Party folks of having.

Don’t wait for the Republicans to raise funds for Jesse. We as independent voters can help the sort of change we want to happen. Contributions can be sent to “Kelly for Congress, P.O. Box 89520, Tucson, AZ 85752.

A representative who hides from the voters by scheduling private “public” events and inviting only “safe” people has no place in the House of REPRESENTATIVES. You are correct in that it is time to start the campain for Gabby’s house seat.

  19. Chappy Brazil says:

Gabby had a town hall about a month ago in Tucson. 2,000 people showed up to Saguaro Eastside High School. Too bad we didn’t organize for that one. We could have gotten major press on socialist healthcare stance and even the Capn’ Tax bill.

I have heard rumors that she is planning a fundraiser/rally somewhere near the Pima Community College East towards the end of the month. I tried to confirm it with her office, but the just shut me down saying they knew nothing. Typical of Gabs to run and hide from the public.

  20. jamal says:

I just called her office. Scott said she is currently visiting “the outskirts of her district” and will hopefully be rearranging her schedule to create a Tucson forum soon. Let’s hope she is able to actually make time to hear from the people she is supposed to be working for about a very important issue to us all. Scott wanted to take my name and number to let me know when the forum info was available, but I am already on her email distribution list, which he said would be notified as well. Cross your fingers…

  21. Vincent says:

If she will not hold a town hall meeting, we should organize our own meeting with a chair there with her name on it. If she will not come to it, then there will be plenty of pictures of her empty chair for all to see! We need to start getting active and stop waiting for these libs to do something. I would like to see John Justice or some other well know name give her a date and place for us to talk, if she will not show up to speak to us then we should go to her and speak.

  22. Theresa says:

I have never participated in any type of protes/rally but this subjuct of Healthcare Reform bothers me BIG time. How can I be sure I know when and where the protest will happen on either the 21st or 22nd?

  23. Matt and Kristina Gipson says:

This is exactly why we did not vote for Gabrielle Giffords. She does not have the strength, intergrity, or guts to actually talk to people who don’t agree with her! This should be a real slap in the face for the people who actually voted for her because she is an elected official who is supposed to be representing the people but how can you represent the people when you either A. Are to afraid to talk to them or B. Is just arrogant and believes that our opinions are not important.
I agree that we should schedule a town hall meeting and invite her and have her empty chair there. What a great idea to show what a coward Gabrielle Giffords really is.

  25. Linda Tilkens says:

Gabrielle Giffords was scheduled to hold an information session 08/13/09 from 06:00 to 07:30 pm at Pima Community College District Office on E. Broadway in Tucson. The information session was on The New GI Bill. My husband works with veterans so he signed-up to attend. When he arrived, he found out the meeting had been changed to Davis-Monthan AFB. No one would be allowed into the meeting unless they were on the list. He was not on the list so he was told the AFB would not allow him to go in. He talked to someone who appeared to work for Giffords, and asked if he could be added to the list. He was told no one could be added to the list.
My husband was attending strictly to get information on the new GI Bill, bt I guess Gabi needs to employ the Air Force to guard her from her constituents.
